There's the scene in "Swallowdale" when the S&A have reached the cairn at the
summit of Kanchenjunga. They find a note in (I think) a bottle which is
signed "Jim Turner, Molly Turner and Bob Blackett." Someone, probably
Roger(!) asks who was Bob Blackett and Nancy, "looking queerly" says
"It was Father." The implication seems to be that he died. I can't recall
any other reference to the A's father other than maybe one or two
in passing.

Ted Walker only appears twice (WDMTGTS and Secret Water) but in both
of these he is a very supportive character, particularly in allowing
the children their own "space." Is it the kind of father AR wishes he
could have been? But how very different is the relationship between
Ted and Mary Walker compared with AR and his first wife.
