Having access to the search engine would be EXTREMELY useful. I'm currently researching a possible 'Swallows and Amazons Bird Book' (as some of you know) and while its not great hardship (!) reading all the books again looking out for descriptions of our feathered friends (indeed as jobs go, reading the AR's books is one of the less stressful ones I've had) - it would obviously be much quicker to type 'heron' into Secret Water to find the quotes I KNOW are there, than to read it again, with a pad handy... Oh well.
Incidentally, the bird book is coming on great guns with sections on herons, dippers and jays pretty much finished.
