Considering its highly toxic feature, including the fumes it generated, Dick was taking some chances with that stuff, like not doing the work nder an exhaust hood. I also wonder how they disposed of the resultant material without causing unwanted corrosive consequences. If poured down the drain, maybe no drain left. Some of its distructive abilities are probably moderated a bit by the inclusion of the metals they were testing, but still an acid to be respected.

Making such a dangerous item is like picking up a skunk by the tail. Fine, as long as you hold him up, but how do you put him down?
