I seem to remember a mention in Hugh Brogan's biography of a visit
to Cornwall in which AR said something like "Why have I never come
here before?" or "Why haven't we been here more often?".
I forget the date of this visit but perhaps someone else has the book
to hand and can look it up.
But for some reason, whenever I read the bit at the end of Missee Lee,
its effect on me is not to set me thinking about AR visiting Cornwall,
but to set me wondering whether there was ever a real event of a
Chinese junk being seen at St Mawes, and whether he borrowed it for
the book.
