Now is this narrower approach (or prejudice, if you like) hard-wired into human males, or can it be corrected by education? And if it can, should it? I think this is AndyB's territory . . . .

In answer to the above: yes probably; yes possibley; does it matter? My old professor used to say, "In some societies only men can milk cows, in other societies only women can milk them and in still other societies it doesn't matter who milks the d... cow so long as someone does but in all societies there are some things that only men can do and others that only women can do..Trick is to confine these to important matters such as dancing round handbags or dealing with toilet seats.
