It seems that the US generally have far fewer restrictions on childrens or adult ativities than in the UK.
It varies from state to state.
Where restrictions exist I find they are ignored or not enforced.
In Florida it is illegal to allow a child to ride a bike without a helmet, but the vast majority of children ride without one, and it is rarely enforced unless they are involved in an accident.

When what seems a sensible law is proposed like trigger locks having to be on guns. there is uproar about taking away freedom, and so children are constantly shooting each other as they find Dads gun and play with it.
