I would certainly recommend The Far Distant Oxus and Pullman's Dark Materials Trilogy of
which the Amber Spyglass is the third book. Oxus is very Ransomian - both authors, school
children themselves, were great AR fans and the published book includes an enthusiastic
introduction by AR himself.
The Dark Materials Trilogy is different, but to me at least, shows that the Pullman read, and was
influenced. by AR.
