About one year ago I discovered and reported on the actual size of The Lake: AR gives the secret away.

In the book SWALLOWDALE, Page 63,he tells us the size of Swallowdale itself, "... the little valley, shut in by another waterfall at the head of it, not a hundred yards away...."

On the inside cover of THE PICTS AND THE MARTYRS one notes Swallowdale on the map. It measures about 0.25 inches which equals about, "...a hundred yards...." The whole Lake measures about 8.5 inches long, or some 34 quarters. Given that 0.25 inches equals 100 yards, The Lake is 3400 yards long. At 1,760 years per mile, The Lake is amost two miles long. Give or take.

Others may disagree.
