Hh'mmm. Yes, that one's a possibility too, Adam. I agree with you that that bit of water can be confusing, but I confess I'm less inclined to do anything about it (partly because it confuses me somewhat too....)

The trouble is that as far as I know, what with modern expressway development, the Beeching Axe closures and so on, the 1930s road/rail system was far from being what it is now. Therefore current maps/plans don't give a great deal of guidance, and one really can only go by the protagonists' on-board observations.

I'll think about it though (and I'll take further advice from anyone should it be forthcoming.)
