I'm thinking I would have liked a story with Capt Walker. He is obviously a highly experienced man who could have subtlely taught so many more lessons.
I remain impressed (35 years after my introduction to Ransome) how much about sailing I learned within the pages of these stories.
I wonder if Ransome didn't write more about Capt Walker because he as the author was afraid that he wasn't as knowledgeable about life as we are led to believe Capt Walker was. Maybe the act of writing from Capt Walkers perspective would have exposed a limit to Ransomes great knowledge.
