I'm a great fan of the old-maps.co.uk website and have particularly enjoyed tracking
all the changes to the Walton Backwaters over the years.
As for Beckfoot, I would back Duncan's 'composite' option. With the proviso that as
well as being a geographical composite, AR's Beckfoot has also a certain quality which
is less easy to put a finger on, a sense of locus, if you like, and that seems to have
come from Lanehead.
