Well I use carrots and onions as well as the pig trotters, but it would be interesting to learn your grandmother's recipe. There is a strange sort of relationship between pork pies and pig totters in aspic. Both involve bits of pig that you would never normally dream of eating and both should have a delcious jelly.

In the UK many youngsters never progress beyond the Harry Potter books, the more enterprising ones read Philip Pullman and only a few let themselves be guided by the parents and read Ransome. Me? I discovered the S&A series in the public library when I was ten, but that was nearly 50 years ago!
