Spurred by Ed's discussions about PM I read it again and began to wonder how many servants were there in the Beckfoot household.
The Cook plays a major role and there is a mention of a maid in another of the books. Nancy would have been at school most of the time so it was an exception for her to mow the grass.
There would have been surely have been an outside man to chop the firewood for the kitchen range (Aga?) as well as looking after the gardens and doing the handyman work such as erecting the Trellis on the wall.
It seems to me that there were at least three , were there any more?
