I always saw Molly as being about eight when she and her older brother and his friend Bob first climbed the Matterhorn.This would have put her in her late twenties when Nancy was born and thus fortyish when Swallows & Amazons began. Captain Flint was probably four or five years older.
All supposition of course, but then, isn't this what its all about?
