The anniversary climb of the Matterhorn/Kanchenjunga was achieved on Saturday by 40 TARS, most of them being Northern Region members but also including welcome visitors from the Midland (the Wright family).

Peter Truelove had organised radio support from his short-wave friends and as well as looking down on a rain-storm at Coniston Sailing Club we were able to hear the comments of the wet non-walkers down below! We were also awarded the unique experience of looking down on a Red Arrows aerobatic display team.

Needless to say food was a primary objective once the summit was reached. Most members also partook of the strategically placed ice-cream seller's wares while waiting for their transport back to base. On handing in their proofs of ascent members were rewarded with a certificate signed by Jim Turner, Bob Blackett and Molly Blackett.
