I've just come onto this website and am very excited to find such an active Ransome message board! I've been a Ransomite from an early age, including dragging my whole family to the Lakes in search of Wild Cat Island etc, and have now decided to carry my love of S&A further . . .

I am writing a 9000 word university dissertation on "Colonial ideologies in Arthur Ransome's Swallows and Amazons novels" (I am an English and Geography student).

I was wondering if there are any particular articles/books/authors any of you can point me towards with this topic in mind? In the way of criticism I've already got Hunt's "Approaching AR", Watson's "Reading Series Fiction from AR to Gene Kelly" and Hardyment's "AR and Cap't Flint's Treasure Trunk". Also the Ransome autobiography and access to "The Life of AR" although have yet to tackle it! Any other suggestions, or of course original ideas?!
