I tried to look into the Rawdon Smith ownership of the bed of the lake some years ago, with no luck. I discovered that Rawdon Smith, Pauline's father, was a local solicitor, but that's as far as I got.
One possible line of inquiry could be Gordon Hall who runs, used to run, Coniston Launch as they are connected to them via one of their landing places on Coniston Water. Again, a local Tar maybe able to help.
One minor connection was that Frank Riding, the Trust's Secretary around 1988, was Gillian Riding's father. Gillian worked at Abbott Hall, and it was she who agreed to place the Dick Callum Cup on show at the Museum.
