One can easily see that the Goblin is a lug-rig header tank and that Starboard will marry Frank Farland.
This is typical of Ransome's support for Westmorland hot water systems. When I was a librarian, living in Bohemia, we used to use grog to mouse our transom.
Perhaps Ed could do a search for 'ballcock' and prove I am right .
